SUMMARY:Local Color 2 - Artist's Reception
DESCRIPTION:A colorful new art show put on by the Las Vegas Arts Council continues a season of art events locally.  The show\, called “Local Color 2\,” will include works by more than 20 local artists\, bringing back the feeling of 2021’s Local Color show\, the first in-gallery exhibit by the Arts Council after the COVID shutdowns. \nThe show\, curated by local artists Dawne Holmes and Lucy Finch\, will open on Friday\, July 12\, and run through August 25 at Gallery 140\, 140 Bridge St. \nSpecial events are an artists’ reception on August 2 as part of the local First Friday Art Walk and a closing reception on Sunday August 25.  Scheduled gallery hours are Fridays 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays 1-4 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:The students from The University of New Mexico’s Environmental Art & Regenerative Ecology course present their exhibition\, Something Tender from It All\, at Gallery 140 in Las Vegas\, New Mexico. \nFire has always been in relationship with land but is now fueled by prolonged drought\, climate crisis\, and a complex history of tenure. In this show\, Art & Ecology artists and researchers offer their heartfelt exploration of intricate relationships with fire across species. Through site-based research\, themes of responsibility\, deep listening\, grief\, collective healing\, and caring for land and water emerged in the shadow of the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon burn.
